Visitor story

We were in Belgrade at the end of April. We had a wonderful three night break in your wonderful city. Rarely have we met such friendly people. The food at VegANGELov was genuinely providing some of the best vegan meals we have ever had and the menu was so extensive. Just amazing.

The forest ramen is the dish I would suggest to everyone who goes to VegANGELov. This restaurant is equally good for vegans and for anyone who just wants a proper meal in Belgrade. We went for a celebratory birthday lunch here, and I've wanted to come back ever since.

Bemata

Uroša Martinovića 8, Belgrade

Bemata is a restaurant in Novi Beograd that has been open since 2017. Their focus is on fresh, daily-prepared meals built around nutrient-dense ingredients. The menu was developed by a team with a background in nutrition, and the emphasis is on making healthy food genuinely enjoyable rather than functional or austere. They offer raw dishes, gluten-free options, and desserts made with fruit, nuts, and agave syrup instead of refined sugar. Bemata's stated philosophy is quality over quantity. Read the full feature →

Bemata is one of those neighbourhood spots in Novi Beograd that does not advertise itself as vegan, but has a solid selection. The vegan burger was really good, the portion could be a bit bigger for my liking. l will visit again soon to check their desserts.

Frequently Asked Questions

About this directory

A few things worth knowing about how this list works: how places get here, and how we keep it current. If your question isn't answered below, tell us.

Are all of these places fully vegan?

No. Some are fully vegan, and others are restaurants where you'll reliably find good vegan options on a menu that also serves meat and dairy. We include both, because that's how people actually eat vegan in Belgrade. A city this size doesn't yet have enough strictly vegan kitchens to cover where the best food is, so limiting the list to them would leave out places worth knowing. Each place's description tells you which kind it is, and what to order.

How does a place end up on this list?

Usually someone tells us about it. A local shares a go-to spot, or a visitor writes in about somewhere they ate, and we go and try it ourselves. When two or more people point us to the same place, it almost always makes the list. Owners can also get in touch directly through the For Businesses form. Either way, we visit and eat before we add anything. Nothing lands here on a recommendation alone.

Do you charge places to be listed?

No. Vegan Belgrade is a community project, and nothing on this site is paid for, sponsored, or boosted. A place is here because someone genuinely recommended it. If it appears higher up, that's down to recent community activity, not money. We don't sell placement, and we won't.

How often is this kept up to date?

We re-check every place at least twice a year: opening hours, what's on the menu, and contact details. Between those checks, community contributions help keep things current. If you spot something wrong on a place's page, tell us. We usually fix it within the week.

Why are there no star ratings?

We decided not to score places against each other. Vegan Belgrade is small enough that every place listed has earned its spot, so a three-versus-four-star debate wouldn't help you decide where to eat tonight. Instead, we let the community do the talking: what people ordered, what they liked, and what they'd tell you before you go. You'll find those notes on each place's page.

I run a place with vegan options. Can I be featured?

Yes, and we'd like to hear from you. Use the For Businesses form and tell us your story in your own words: when you opened, what you serve, and what you wish more people knew about the place. We'll write the feature based on what you send and a visit of our own. There's no charge for any of it.
